Fischer scholarships
The Dean of Faculty of Science, prof. Ivo Frébort, has decided to award up to 10 students in Ph.D. study programmes by scholarships of 300 thousand CZK per year (approximately 11000 Euro). This amount will fairly cover the tuition fee and living expenses in Olomouc, Czech Republic. Fields of study supported by this scholarship are Biophysics, Physical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Experimental Biology, Zoology.
Josef Ludvík Fischer

Czech philosopher and sociologist, the first Rector of Palacký University in Olomouc. In 1935 he was named an extraordinary professor of Sociology and Philosophy at Masaryk University in Brno. In 1939–1945 he lived in exile in the Netherlands. After returning back to Czechoslovakia he actively joined in an uprising of Czech universities. He became Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University in Brno in 1945, Rector of Palacký University in Olomouc 1946–1949, Vice-Rector 1949/1950. He co-founded and edited journals Index and Sociological revue, he was a member of many local and international learned societies, published many books and articles about philosophy, sociology, political science, theory of culture, cultural politics and literary criticism.
