BOT/BIKRA Principles of Classification of Plants

  1. The science of plant systematics: methods and principles.
  2. The Linnean and molecular systematics.
  3. The evolution of plant diversity. Overview on phylogenetic systematics.
  4. Evolutionary relationships and systematics of Fungi s. lato. Anatomy, morphology, reproduction, life strategies and the most important representatives of the main groups: a) kingdom Protozoa (characteristics, divisions: Acrasiomycota, Myxomycota, Plasmodiophoromycota); b) kingdom Chromista (characteristics, divisions: Labyrinthulomycota, Oomycota, Hyphochytriomycota); c) kingdom Fungi (characteristics, divisions: Chytridiomycota; Microsporidiomycota; Zygomycota, Ascomycota, Deuteromycota, Basidiomycota).
  5. Evolutionary relationships and systematics of Cyanobacteria and Algae s. lato. Anatomy, morphology, reproduction and the most important representatives of the main groups: Archebacteria and Cyanobacteria, Protozoa (Euglenophyta and Dinophyta), Chromista (Heterokontophyta and Haptophyta), Biliphytae (Glaucophyta and Rhodophyta), Chlorophytae (Chlorophyta and Charophyta). Evolution and diversity of green and land plants. Evolution, diversity and relationships of bryophytes and vascular plants.
  6. Evolution and diversity of seed plants. The origin, evolution and phylogenetic relationships of Angiosperms. Systematic classification of bryophytes and vascular plants - morphology, life cycles and the most important representatives of the main groups: Bryophytes (Anthocerotophyta, Marchantiophyta and Bryophyta), vascular plants - Rhyniophyta, Lycopodiophyta, ferns, horsetails, cycases, Ginkgophyta, conifers and flowering plants (Magnoliophyta).
  7. Main evolutionary trends in flowering plants. Important representatives of the Czech Flora.

     a) Fungi

     c) Mosses
     d) Club mosses, horsetails and ferns
     e) Conifers
     f) ancestral flowering Dicot plants (Magnoliidae-Rosidae)
     g) advanced flowering Dicot plants (Cornidae-Asteridae)
     h) Monocots (Liliopsida)
