SLO/BZDF Sources and Detectors for Nanophotonics

  • Laser and laser diodes, principles and regimes of operation, laser in continuous regime, Q-switching, synchronization of modes, ultrashort impulses, measurements of power and energy, diagnostics of ultrashort impulses, basics of spectrometry
  • Electrooptical and acoustooptical phenomena, amplitude and phase modulation of light, spatial modulation, diagnostics and shaping of ultrashort optical impulses
  • Generation of the second and the third harmonics, optical parameters of amplification
  • Special sources of photons for nanophotonics, attenuated laser impulses, sources of correlated photons, sources of photons with annunciation, molecular sources, defects in nanocrystals, quantum wells and quantum dots, atoms or ions in plastics, comparison of one-photon sources
  • Basics of radiometry and photometry, basic properties of detectors of light
  • Internal and external photoelectric phenomena, PIN and avalanche diodes, regimes of operation, fast PIN detectors, homodyne detector
  • Photomultipliers, avalanche photodiodes, detection of individual photons
  • Matrix detectors, scientific CCD cameras, intensified CDD cameras and EMCCD cameras
  • Special detectors of photons for quantum optics, detectors with sensitivity to individual photons, detectors with resolution in number of photons, nanophotonic detectors, VLPC, TES
