Winter semester
Form of course completion: exam
Lectures present basic information about mineral and organic part of soil, their formation and classification. Attention is devoted to physical and chemical soil properties, soil coloids and ion sorption. Important part of the subject is soil biota and its role in decomposition processes and ecological functions of individual groups in terrestrial ecosystems. Relevant parts of lectures include soil formation processes and soil classifications (WRB, Czech soil taxonomical system). Knowledge about soil science and ecology are completed by information from soil geography, soil quality and degradation processes.
