P1527 Biology – Botany
Field of study guarantor: Prof.Ing. Aleš Lebeda, DrSc.
Guarantor of study: Department of Botany
Field of study:
The study provides broader and deeper knowledge of plant sciences, such as anatomy and cytology of plants, taxonomy and ecogeography, algology, mycology, plant pathology, tissue and cell cultures, genetics and biotechnology, plant physiology and biochemistry, plant genetic resources, population biology and genetics, vegetation science. The choice of the doctoral thesis leads to further specialisations in theoretical and applied botany and plant sciences such as anatomical-histological research of some plant genera and families, taxonomical-chorological research, structure and function of plant communities and plant biodiversity, reproduction biology and plant gene pool conservation (in-situ, ex-situ), nature protection and conservation;, phytogeography, plant tissue cultures, biology and epidemiology and genetic variability of plant pathogenic fungi, viruses and phytoplasmas, identification of resistance sources and genes in wild progenitors of crops, host-pathogen specificity and resistance mechanisms, molecular genetics and genomics of plants, physiology and biochemistry of plant growth substances, taxonomy and ecology of algae, the microbiological and algological characteristics of aquatic environments, and population biology, ecology and genetics of plants.
Entrance exams requirements:
- Mgr. (MSc.) University degree in related branch(es)
- Good knowledge of English language
- Good knowledge of plant biology, creativity, interest and suitability for research, strong involvement
